Did you play NES Metroid or Super Metroid first? If you played them out of order do you think that was a better experience?

NES Metroid was pretty brutal. If you played it first you get the story but it also reveals some of the "secrets." Also, if you played NES Metroid first you might have rage quit as a 6 year old and not wanted to even try Super Metroid. Which one did you play first and do you wish you had played them in a different order?
