Why is it always he Mom

I just started a new book, and in the first like three pages it’s shown that the mom has secret hidden knowledge and knew about the apocalypse and the system and blah blah blah.

Why is it that’s it’s always the mom that’s the descendant of the UgahBoogah Clan, hiding out on Earth for reasons, or whatever? Why is it never the dad?
