Cigarette Money
I scoured through my beat up car
To put heads of pennies in a jar
All I need is gas, the clothes on my back, and money….
Cigarette money
You see I smoked my very last pack
While walking to your house and back
Nerves are shot and my throat is dry
And I’m saving up to buy some more.
You seen them half smoked on the ground
I see an ounce of gold lying around
My teeth are stained and so is my soul
But they taste so good you know
Cigarette money
I went by your house and cried
From my broken heart inside
I can’t understand why you’re with him but at least I have my Marlboro Reds.
