Is there any way to put an artisan keycap on a keyboard that doesn't have a switch?

VERY new to this. I bought my bf an artisan keycap off Etsy as a gift. Was very excited to install it for him and came to find out the board has NO switches so the fancy keycap just sits in the space... Big my bad considering I should have checked beforehand. Is there some way I can make this keycap work or am I SOL?
