I don’t think my friends like me very much.
This past Saturday was my 17th birthday and I invited a friend of mine over because she said she wasn’t busy. She came to my house with a large bag full of things, but she pulled out a box of candy for me (I don’t really like the flavor but I don’t think I ever mentioned that). She carried the big bag with her the entire time she was at my house. She came pretty early, around 8am, and told me that she would have to leave a bit early. We had planned to hang out until noon but it didn’t really matter to me because she wasn’t leaving super early. I asked her what she was leaving for and she told me it was a secret she couldn’t tell me. I didn’t pry too much, but I really did want to know. When she left, I was watching out the window, and I saw her get into our friend‘s car. I was really shocked at this, as she told me her sister would be coming to pick her up (she doesn’t have a license yet).
We share our locations with each other in a group chat, so against my better judgement, I watched her location throughout the day. She went all around town with our friend, went out to eat, and spent the rest of the day at our friends house. I was so upset about this on Saturday that I cried alone in my room and broke a glass I had made that meant a lot to me out of anger towards them and myself. I think I was so upset that I wasn’t invited, but I know that they don’t need to invite me everywhere. I feel like they could have at least told me they had some kind of plans? This hurt especially hard due to another situation with a friend I had that has since resulted in silence on both ends.
After calming down over the days I decided to sort of “test the waters” with my friends. So today, I asked my friend if she had done anything on Saturday. She dismissed my question and when I asked later she did the same thing. I’m starting to think they’re trying to keep this a secret from me specifically. They really didn’t do a good job at that.
This is really just another nail in the coffin for me, as I have felt that for a while, they have been distant to me, but I’ve been hesitant to leave them because I’ve lost so much recently and I need some stability. I’m afraid that if I confront them, or say anything, that they’ll think I’m dumb, and I’ll have to see them in person again for a while.
So all that is to say, what do I do about them? Should I confront them and risk the only stable relationship I have and risk being alone, or should I say nothing and just hope that they change? I think they can change. Maybe one day.
