Gift card PSA, learn from my stupidity

I’m sure a lot of you are aware of this, but I wasn’t: Ulta doesn’t offer a way to save a gift card to your account. This weekend I was trying to tidy up and I saved all my gift cards to my various accounts (@mazon, sephor@, Starbucks, etc.) and I thought I did that with my Ulta gift card when I clicked “add gift card” on the checkout screen—I wasn’t placing an order yet but that was the only place in the app where I could add it. I made what I now know to be a huge mistake—I threw them away. And trash pickup was this morning. $150 gone.

I searched this subreddit and found that if the purchaser used their Ulta account to buy the gift card, Ulta can void the old one and issue a new one. Unfortunately this isn’t an option for me.

I’m feeling incredibly dumb so if any good can come of this, at least I learned my lesson and maybe someone else can heed my warning.
