Not a single name I like and my first now a teen changed hers so zero motivation to pick a name
My first child is 15 and I've picked what I thought was a unique lovely name for her that absolutely everyone who has ever met her has said is great.
For the last 3 years she has made everyone outside of our family call her Karla (not the actual new name) instead, saying that it helps her dissociate and be outgoing because [her original name] may be shy or sad or defeatist but pretending to be this other person Karla can be forward and bold and everything else because "it's not her anyway".
But everyone at school, her rock band, the two casts she's theatre wise and the people she meets at the anime conventions calls her Karla, which is common and dull and though I, as a trans dad, thoroughly respect her identity and never said a single word or made a single disappointed face about this change...
I have ZERO interest in naming the baby I'm carrying because what's the point? I don't use my dead name and neither does Karla...
To make things worse, I really dislike most names in my language (most are Christian and we're all Pagan) and the few I do like I've already used for characters in the novels I wrote so it would feel cheap to use them for a child... AND the only two boy names I have every not hated are my current boyfriend's names (ironic, I know), so I feel completely lost.
Also, my boyfriend and I won't be coparenting (100% my choice which I made clear since before we even started dating) so it's not like I can ask for his input and I don't want to use his names anymore because I hate sharing a name with people I like.
Where the hell am I going to come up with baby names?
