Is it normal to go to a concert with friends but sit in completely different sections?

So I'm going to my concert with a group and I just realized our tickets are pretty muchl in different sections of the arena.. Am I crazy or does that kind of defeat the whole point of going together? I thought the idea was to actually experience it as a group, not just carpool to the venue and split up the whole time lol

Do people usually do this?
