Weber B ankle fracture + ORIF: what did your follow-up schedule look like?

Hey everyone — looking for some experiences from people who’ve had ankle fractures + ORIF.

I’m a 26-year-old healthy male who fractured my fibula during a soccer game and had ORIF surgery on Feb 8. It was a Weber type B distal fibula fracture with a long oblique pattern and widening of the ankle mortise. Imaging also noted mild displacement, soft tissue swelling, and a suspected small posterior malleolus fracture (to be reassessed on follow-up), but no medial osseous injury. This coming Monday will be my 2-week follow-up.

I’m currently staying at my parents’, and getting to the clinic takes time and adds constraints for them, so I’m trying to anticipate what follow-ups might look like.

For those who’ve been through something similar (ankle fracture + ORIF), how many follow-ups did you typically have? Is it usually the 2-week post-op visit and then a 6-week one, or were you seen more frequently?

I know everyone’s recovery is different and that my surgeon will ultimately decide what’s best — I’m just trying to get a rough sense of what’s common so I can plan ahead a bit.

Thanks in advance 🙏
