In Lucky Summer, the message was direct & impossible to ignore. Kenyans stood face to face with power & spoke with the clarity of people who have carried the weight of taxes, joblessness & hunger for years. There is no collective amnesia in this country. You can’t disappear while citizens struggle, then suddenly remember them when elections approach & expect gratitude. People remember the promises. They remember the slogans. And they remember how quickly hope was replaced by heavier burdens.

They also remember the endless cycle of recycled projects dressed up as fresh achievements. The Nairobi River & sewer plans have been launched, re-launched, rebranded & paraded as if they were new ideas each time. One leader unveils it, another renames it, a 3rd promises miracles by a certain year yet the river remains the same & so do the struggles around it. How many ribbons can be cut on the same project before it becomes clear that the ceremony matters more than the results?

What happened in Lucky Summer was not tribal, staged, or imported anger. It was ordinary Kenyans tired, alert & done with empty talk. They haven’t forgotten the “bottom-up” pledges, the hustler narratives, the promises to bodaboda riders, mama mboga & market traders. They haven’t forgotten the dream of Wi-Fi in every market or the sweet campaign words that later turned into bitter taxes. 4 years of speeches over solutions, launches over delivery & symbolism over substance have led to this moment. The reminder from Lucky Summer is simple & loud. Kenyans are watching & they don’t forget.

Public fatigue & the “Wantam” mood nganya bought with stolen taxpayers’ money & laundered funds.
