Best codec for 3× BMPCC 6K Pro for long multi-cam recordings

Hey all,

I’m running 3× Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 for a multi-cam setup and need to record up to 5 sessions of ~1 hour each on the same day (so potentially 15 hours total across cameras).

My main goals:

  • Keep data rates manageable
  • Maintain good image quality for post
  • Avoid sensor crop (so I prefer full 6K / full sensor readout)
  • Footage will be used for long-form content (podcasts)

I’m currently debating between:

  • BRAW Constant Bitrate (12:1)
  • BRAW Constant Quality (Q5)
  • Possibly recording in 6K vs 4K (but I’d rather not crop in-camera)

Questions:

  • What codec/settings would you recommend for this kind of long-form multi-cam shoot?
  • Would you downscale in post from 6K, or is it smarter to shoot 4K in-camera to save data?

Thanks!
