Is it best to create a new account after the visible trial or can I use that account and Port my number over?

I'm currently doing a visible trial and would like to Port my number over after the visible trial is over. I don't need the phone number that they gave me. On the app it says that I can activate and then switch my main number over on that account. but is it better to use the same account as a trial or just create a whole new other account?
