Need some strategy tips

I'm fairly new to this game (not even from a country that has ice-hockey) but I really enjoyed the Be A Pro mode and doing alright at HUT (never get matches on Chel). Thing is, I like just playing the game and having fun but I keep coming up against one-trick-pony crossover queens. What are good strategies to counter the meta-morons?
