Tried to teach my kid that it takes a hard worker to earn merits.
I can truly understand what my parents felt while I was growing up and what it was like for them seeing me throw tantrums and be childish about the things I wanted.
My son truly was birthed from me, whenever I see him I see the younger version of me that troubled my parents. Day in day out there’s always something he wants, something he doesn’t want, something he’s throwing a tantrum over. Today he wants a SpiderMan suit from Alibaba, tomorrow he wants a race car, the day after he wants a toy gun.
Can you stop wanting a lot of things, my baby, and start doing for mummy? I tell him often, hard workers are the ones that earn merits not lazy people. You’ve got to work in turn to get things that’s the legal way.
You’re my son so naturally mummy would get some things for you, but there are things you’ll have to earn for it to be given to you. You hear me baby? He nods at me.
I don’t have issues with getting things for my son, but most times I have to say No. Just the way my mom did to me and I didn’t understand her then, I felt like she was punishing me. But now I could see that she was being disciplined because having my own son has made me understand that better now.
