Why do vegans want their food to taste like meat?
I’ve seen this question come up a lot and I wanted to share a perspective on it. People always ask “why do vegans want their food to taste like meat?” - here’s the simple answer.
We’re not trying to make plants taste like meat. The whole point of plant-based meat substitutes is so that people can get to experience similar tastes, similar textures, and have a bridge from killing innocent beings into eating foods that they enjoy, that remind them of their childhood or bring about good memories without having to kill innocent animals.
So to me, it’s pretty obvious. And then when we look at seasoning foods, we season foods with plants. So this argument is just a little bit silly to me.
And so I would urge you to not knock the plant-based meats. And if you’re vegan, don’t knock them in front of other people either. Claiming that they’re less healthy when that’s just blatantly false.
I don’t eat mock meats for every single meal of every single day, but for my health and for the animals, it is a much better alternative. I’d really like to know how others here see it.
