What part of my Corvette "is" the actual Corvette? (explanation inside)

I upgraded my Corvette to S class and now I want to do a major overhaul, but if I were to edit the Corvette would I be able to completely disassemble and start from scratch? Or do I have to keep the same cockpit I started with, for example? I don't want to accidentally delete it or something! Thanks
