Is there a way to replace foundation to a different type ,and do already build machines break if I destroy the foundation under it?

So I wanna switch over to the concrete only foundation style cus I making way more concrete than spare plating. However, I've got 4 layers of preexisting factory that uses th innitial style of foundation and I wanna change that so that it matches the rest of what I'm building. Is there a way exchange fpundation type?
