Advise on therapy
52F. I’ve been dating via OLD for about 6 years and have been consistently disappointed with the outcomes. I seem to attract men who lack respect and communication skills. The last two dates were with avoidant men who really broke my self-esteem.
I’m considering starting therapy because I want to work on myself and learn to accept being happy on my own. I’ve read many posts here from people who say therapy helped them become happier being single. I’m really curious what kind of work was done to achieve that.
What actually happens in therapy that leads to that shift? How long did it take before you noticed a change?
I’d really appreciate any insight. Thanks in advance for your comments and I will answer any questions you may have that will guide me..
Edit: last two relationships (can't even call them relationships haha)
