Caliburn vehicle combat bugged? Can't shoot forward

I was pretty excited to get this vehicle and use it for the final race, but for some reason it would never shoot.

I had to do a bunch of testing to realize it would only shoot to the sides or backwards.

Is this a bug? Or a very strange design decision? Doesn't make any sense that only in this car V can't figure out how to point the gun forward.
