S1IIe or S9 for a beginner in professional client and personal work?

General / Discussion

I will make it simple from now on: I’m a new videographer and I’m not sure which camera to get.

I hope whoever reads this message is doing well at the time and that it is also useful for someone in the future.

That being said, I’m currently limited in what I can do with my phone. I even used to edit my videos on it, but now I will upgrade for the well-being of my work, since with this little iPhone I’ve been able to gain the attention of some people in the music and video industry of my country.

After a year of investigation (to ensure that I let you know that I don’t want to spend money like crazy, people in Latin America don’t have that privilege), I am ready to purchase a Lumix camera mainly for three reasons: Open gate, stability of the sensor, and their colors.

We know that there are not a lot of lenses, we know that the autofocus is not the best, but I don’t care about that, I just care about purchasing a camera that I will be stuck with for more than three years, because that’s the time I have using my phone and now I feel confined.

So here is the question, S1IIE or S9?

The content I will do: Social media, YouTube, portraits, and real estate photos, finishing with music videos.

I do not accept the answer of “it doesn’t matter the gear, just the scene” anymore, cause we all know at this point that each gear has its limitations and I just don’t want to deal with the ones of the phone anymore. I want a proper camera to work with proper clients (hotels, music studios, etc…), cause they’re the ones who care the most about the final product.

- Why the S1IIe? Because $1,000.00 CAD more is really a big jump for the S1II body only. For that price, I prefer to just purchase a Red Komodo, do video, and purchase a light camera for photos later.

- Why the S9? Because even with its limitations is a budget friendly camara (I don’t need debt to afford this one). I was thinking about the Fuji X-m5 but It would be almost paying the same for an aps-c camara that I will change later. Even if I love fuji, the S9 just offers more. Note: my car just got the engine broken so if I need to save the must I will go to an Insta 360 Ace Pro. Xd

To purchase an S5II I'd better purchase an S5IIX, but I also prefer to spend a little extra for the better body, there is no middle ground. lol

Do I purchase an all in one camara (S1IIe) or do I purchase a budget one (S9) to learn how to use a camera first?

I even purchased a flight to the US for only the purpose of purchasing my computer and camera, because there is no option to finance either here and the people who sell them increased the prices to +$1,000.00 USD from the original value (I have not seen anybody selling Lumix in DR tho).

For the record, let's not talk about micro-fourd thirds cause they’re not making those anymore, it does not follow my requirement of longevity.

I appreciate the help! And hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. =D
