Discussion- Am I trying for nothing?

So, I've been out of work for around 11 months, trying to gain a spot in creative careers. I'm new to this, but have previously done a Masters in another creative discipline (Fine Art). Over the 2 years I was in employment (a non creative role), I realised that in order to get into the creative industries, I needed to up my software game, and have since learned Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, and have used Premiere Pro on projects bringing it all together. I have also been involved in a media project coding a website for a news site (the-context.com), and making publications and branding for that news website involving a lot of graphic design, motion design and animation. On LinkedIn, I don't seem to be getting the traction for my skills though, and this is despite attending employment sessions where I am told I have "great skills". Would be grateful for advice.
