How to discuss getting on birth control?
I’m 16, and I have some pretty bad menstrual issues sometimes, and have had these issues consistently for a few years at least. It makes me miss school, have intense depressive mood swings, faint, vomit, etc. All this is to say, it’s a massive hassle, and I’d like to go on the pill to try and resolve this issue.
The thing I need advice on, is how to say this to my parents. I’m worried they’ll think that medication is like, overkill, if that makes sense? And won’t give it some consideration (if they decided that after thinking it over, then sure whatever but like, I mean just thinking it right off the bat). They might also think that I want it so I can like do stuff with guys. I don’t think that’s gonna be much of a concern since I’m a huge homebody who does nothing and barely knows any guys but idk my mum’s kinda paranoid sometimes.
Also, idk if it makes a difference, but I’m in the UK, so technically I think I control my medical stuff but like I’m not allowed to leave the house by myself so I don’t think I can get it without them going with me, and also I don’t want to hide it in case of side effects, or in case they find out and get suspicious about why I hid it.
So like, tips on how to present the issue/bring it up?
