Perths VIP Guests?

I wonder if anyone here could shed some light on who is given guest VIP badges and, more importantly, why they were so rude. I am mainly venting, but something doesn't sit right with me about how some individuals who had the guest badges were acting during the Perth show. Look, it's a festival, and I don't ever expect any form of decorum but for people who were easily in there 50s the way they talked about peoples bodys and clothing, the acts on stage and straight up just talked threw most songs was really a dick move. They all were Australian and most said they had been "a part" of laneway for year leading me to fear these are people who are part of the organisation team or something but i hope there not actually representing the event in anyway. I know its a bit rich having a moan as someone who brought a vip ticket but i think this behaviour from grown adults who are guest is rooted.
