Parent Plus Loan Growing

Ok need some advice here. My mom took out a parent plus loan for me when I went to college in 2013. It is in her name, and to be totally honest, I don’t remember us ever having a conversation about me being responsible for paying it back, but nonetheless, I have been making payments on it from the beginning even though it’s not in my name, which really sucks because I can’t write off the interest paid on my taxes. The original balance was $35,000, and now 13 years later, it has GROWN to $44,000. I’m paying about $250 per month on it, and it’s on an extended graduated plan, so the payment will go up every 2 years. This loan won’t be forgiven after 25 years because it’s not a direct federal loan. What the heck can I do about this thing?! It’s terrible, but I read that these loans get discharged when the borrower dies, so I guess one day when I’m an old lady and my mom is gone, this won’t be a problem, but I don’t want to think about that, and also what do I do in the meantime?! It feels very unfair. I have my own student loans I’m paying on too, and this one is just eating me alive.

Any advice?!
