Cities Skylines 2 v1.5.4f1 Updated dll and instructions

CrossOver

Hello all, this is my first time doing such a thing so hopefully it's done correctly. Anyone who has been playing Cities 2 on macOS know it's kind of a pain, and there's multiple steps involved.

Previous posts have done an excellent job explaining what all needs to be done, so I won't go into too much detail in my post:

and so on

  • Most importantly, you need an updated Colossal.IO.dll file for your Cities install, I have uploaded it here for v1.5.4f1. Please note, I've never done an edit or upload like this, I can't provide any technical support, nor promise I'll update the dll for future versions. The web archive link above contains the instructions for modifying the dll. The updated dll goes in : /path/of/bottle/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Cities Skylines II/Cities2_Data/Managed
  • Some installs are broken by .DS_Store files for whatever reason. In such a case, you'll need to do a terminal command: find /path/to/install -name ".DS_Store" -type f -delete
  • Install JetBrains Toolbox. This step isn't strictly necessary I don't believe, but you will get an error if you don't have it installed, less errors are good, yeah?
  • And last but not least, your user folder for the game needs to have .priority files in *every* folder, otherwise you'll run into all sorts of issues. You can manually do it by creating a new folder in finder in each folder and titling it ".priority", or you can run a script. I personally have a script I use, based on a comment someone made in the above threads.

With all that, you *should* be good to go. Or at least it's worked for me on macOS 26, Crossover 26. You can even use mods, either by downloading manually from paradoxmods, or using Skyve. The in game mod management though is broken for us.
