Help me remember this awesome movie please !!

I haven't watched the movie just watched one or two of its edits a long time ago, what I remember is a scene of the main character lying on a chair with ig cigarettes in his hand in maybe their house, ig he was wearing a banyan, was a strong man. The theme must have been love, the edit was focused on two character and idk why I feel like it was somewhat romantically sad, idk I also have feeling it involved war/military/army. Didn't seem to be a new age movie.
