My entire adult life I have owned one model of car, a 2 door BMW 3-4 series. I’m on number 5 now. That’s because what I really wanted is a muscle car, and the 4 series is the closest practical alternative.

And no, the contemporary versions of the Mustang and Dodge Challenger won’t do. They are trashy and low rent. There, I said it. Also, I can’t stand the beaver face of the latest 4 series BMW, it’s just way too ugly.

So I’m holding on to my 2020 440M for longer than I normally would, waiting for the BMW Neue Klasse to get here to finally make the leap to an EV.

Ford has the most amazing designs from the late 60’s/early 70’s. All they have to do is adapt that to their upcoming electric platform and they have a hit. But please please take a page from the Neue Klasse and add a very powerful low frequency sound to the new car. One of the most annoying things about the BMW i4 is the ridiculous sound.

Car buying and ownership is still an emotional experience. I’ve seen the eyes of a 9 years old sparkle when they see something awesome, and right there they are hooked. It’s not logical, if it were I would drive a Toyota or Hyundai. This is emotional, but don’t underestimate your customers by trying to pass off a recycled crossover design as a Mustang. That’s just hurting the brand.

A modern EV in the body of a 1970 Mustang Fastback (that sounds like a Fastback) would sell like hotcakes. It can ride the coattails of the Neue Klasse and steal its wind. Or maybe together they can start a new trend of EV’s that look retro-awesome, and start a new more interesting car design renaissance where everything doesn’t look like yet another crossover SUV shaped like half a boiled egg with wheels.

Give me a modern electric Fastback and I will buy it. So will a lot of people that have never seen or heard of a classic Mustang. Beauty is Beauty, Marylin Monroe at 25 is attractive even to a Gen Alpha kid raised on TikTok.

Ford has an easy home run in its hands attest model tand they don’t seem to know it
