How do I properly install and make sure the head unit I want will fit in my car?

I'm new here, I would like to upgrade the audio and add android auto to a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. I found a sony AV receiver I like and has the features I am after.
Can I just by any double din fitment kit that looks good? Is there standardization in sizes with these products?
