How can we address homophobia in our school?

I’m part of the student leadership team and attend meetings with school staff and the PTA. We’ve noticed ongoing issues with homophobic comments and attitudes among students.

As someone who’s openly LGBTQ+, I’ve experienced harassment myself, and it’s clear this isn’t something we can ignore. Our school has over 200 students, but only two of us are openly gay or bi, which says a lot about the environment.

I want to help improve things, but I’m not sure where to start. What practical steps have actually worked in other schools?
