48 hours in Rome, post-cruise, and just want to relax. Any suggestions?

My wife and I will be traveling to Rome at the beginning of September, for a Mediterranean cruise. We will spend 4 days in Rome prior to the cruise, and plan to see the big sights during that time. The cruise is 7 days, four stops, with family, so I'm guessing we're not going to much feel like doing a lot of walking/sight seeing after the cruise, but what to do?

A couple things I've considered -

Montepulciano - A couple days in, "wine country," sounds wonderful but I don't think I really want to spend 4.5 hours getting there. Biggest issue is our 11am flight home, so we'd either have to go back to Rome the night before, or leave super early.

Florence - only a couple of hours to get there, so that seems more attainable, but I also think it will be more open to sight seeing and less relaxation. I could be overthinking it.

Palermo - quick flight to get there but my parents are planning to go there, after the cruise, and I'm positive I'll need a break from that chaos lol

I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions?
