Do Yourself A Favor: Learn from My Mistake
I am a content creator like most of you are. I was fortunate enough to get reached out to by a band that liked my style and asked me to make a music video for them. I was thrilled beyond belief and literally put every ounce of creativity and heart that I possess into making them something extraordinary. Not to toot my own horn but I way under promised and over delivered.
Well in my excitement I decided to post the video to one of my channels in hopes of getting some early attention before handing it over to them. I thought how cool will it be to gain an epic amount of views beforehand. I knew what I made is better than everything else out there right now, I just needed an audience to witness it. I don’t say this because I’m full of myself I say this because I had shown the video to some local artists and words like genius and provocative and daring and brilliant were thrown around.
So I posted the video to a certain subreddit and…nothing. Crickets. Nobody at all watched it even though thousands viewed my post. It’s just no one clicked the link.
As you can probably guess, here is where I fucked up. I logged into another account (this one) and pretended to be a hater. Yes, I attempted to rage bait the masses.
Well what do you think happened? People became incensed. And in the blink of N eye my post was removed.
So now I’m persona non grata in a community that has meant so much to me.
So do yourself a favor. Do everything above board. It’s not worth it otherwise.
TL:DR I deceived people and paid the price. Don’t do that.
