Recent diagnosis in the family. What to expect?
My grandma (70f) was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She has been having symptoms, such as difficulty keeping food down for about 6 months. She was a heavier person but she’s lost at least 60 pounds in 6 months. She just got officially diagnosed last week with pancreatic cancer, she has a larger tumor in her pancreas and a smaller one in her kidney. Currently she’s only able to eat and drink small amounts and has difficulty keeping things down.
She hasn’t had a biopsy yet and so she doesn’t know if chemo or surgery is an option at this time.
I know it’s unpredictable and hard to say, but if anyone has experience with this and could tell me what to expect I would really appreciate it. I am her primary caregiver and I don’t know what life will look like for us moving forward.
My grandpa died of pancreatic cancer 3 years ago and he passed away within 2 months of getting his diagnosis. It happened so fast and I wonder if this will be the same. I know it is impossible to tell. But please share your stories with me.
