Welcome to r/LucentApp! ๐ | Start Here, FAQs & The Direct Paste Helper
Hi everyone, and welcome to the official community for Lucent! ๐
I'm the indie developer behind the app. I built Lucent because I was frustrated with the limitations of the native macOS clipboard and wanted a tool that was lightning-fast, beautiful, and strictly privacy-focused. After rewriting the core UI in AppKit for a locked 60fps experience, I'm thrilled to finally share it with you all.
Whether you're here to report a bug, request a feature, or just share how you use Lucent in your workflow, you're in the right place!
๐ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Why doesn't Lucent paste directly into my current app?
This is the most common question! Due to strict Mac App Store guidelines, apps are no longer allowed to use Accessibility permissions to inject keystrokes (like Cmd+V) into other apps.
๐ The Solution: I've built a lightweight, safe companion app called the Direct Paste Helper. You can download it directly from my website to restore seamless, one-click pasting. ๐Download the Integration Helper Here
2. Is my clipboard data private?
Absolutely. 100% yes. Lucent is entirely offline. All your clipboard history, images, and code snippets are stored locally on your Mac. Nothing is ever sent to any server. You can also add apps (like 1Password or your banking app) to the "Ignore List" so sensitive data is never recorded.
3. What formats does Lucent support? Almost everything!
- Images: Native previews with resolution and color space info.
- Animated: Direct playback for GIFs, WebP, and AVIF.
- Code: Retains original syntax highlighting.
- Colors: Instant copying in Hex, RGB, HSB, and HSL.
- Web: Automatically fetches website titles.
๐บ๏ธ What's Next? (Roadmap)
Lucent is just getting started. Here is what I am actively working on for the next major updates:
- ๐ ๏ธ Local File Actions: Compressing videos, converting videos to GIFs, and image format conversionโall running purely locally on your machine.
