Anyone use a VPN device that stays in your home country? Going to Dubai soon and trying to figure this out.

First time working from somewhere with internet restrictions.

Been reading about leaving a device at home that acts as a VPN so you connect through your home country and avoid local blocks.

For those who've done this, is is actually better than a regular VPN? What should I look for when choosing something like this?

Mainly worried about accessing UK banking, some work tools, and WhatsApp for client comms.
