In today's pro CS landscape, how hard is it to qualify for a major with a 5 stack of friends?

Let's say me and 4 other guys are really good as a team (completely hypothetical because I suck and I don't have a team). How would we get enough VRS points to get to a major, if open qualys don't exist anymore?
