(10K) Tips and tricks needed for when you're in early pregnancy on your wedding day!
My wedding is in 1.5 weeks, and wouldn't you know it, turns out I'm pregnant. We had been trying for a couple months but I was absolutely sure it wasn't going to happen yet (famous last words haha), particularly because I'm 39. I was kind happy about how my cycle was going to work out for this month, I was supposed to have my period early this week, then I'd be at my least bloated for wedding yay! Well, man plans and god laughs, I suppose. I found out yesterday after testing because said period seemed to be taking it's time. It looks like by wedding day, I'll be about 5 weeks +a few days. If anyone has been in this situation, is there anything I can do to be more prepared to handle wedding day issues + early pregnancy?
My concerns are:
-
fitting into/looking bloated in my dress. Very sad about this one, I just gotten my dress to a point where I felt relatively comfortable in it, now I worry it won't look right anymore. Luckily my reception dress is loose and comfortable. I have some light compression shapewear I was planning on wearing before I knew I was pregnant, I hope at 5 weeks it's ok to do that.

Looking suspicious that I'm not drinking at dinner or the afterparty. Our wedding is a small ceremony of 20 people + dinner at a restaurant, and then an afterparty for about 50 people. I think at dinner I can say I'll be driving, so I want to stay sober. I've also experienced the wine list at this restaurant pretty extensively, while my fiancé has not, so it makes sense for him to drink while I stay sober. I'm somewhat more concerned about the afterparty though. I feel like people will be buying and bringing me drinks. My go-to drink for when I'm not drinking but want to look like I am is a bitters and soda, so I can at least look like I have a drink in my hands. I'm worried about what to say when people ask what to get me, or if someone hands me a drink or shots. I've already told my best friend, she is sober but her husband said he could take some of my drinks. I was thinking about telling a few people so they can similarly spread out the clandestine drinking to keep the booze out of my hands.

Eating at the reception dinner. I'm not experiencing morning sickness yet, but I am definitely feeling the thing where larger meals make your belly and abs cramp. Any tips for keeping meals small during a group setting like this?

Spotting or miscarrying during the wedding. I hate that I'm even thinking about this, but I think based on my age and the experiences of many of my friends' first pregnancies, the chances of miscarrying are there. There is also the chance of just normal spotting from implantation. What do I do if I begin to miscarry? I think with how far along I am, it's unlikely to be something I would need to seek immediate medical attention for. One of my friends who will be there is a doctor (although family medicine, not obgyn), so I suppose she could advise if it begins to happen.
Budget isn't really an issue at this point, time and availability is, so if there is anything I can get at like a Macy's or Nordstroms, or similar, that would be ideal.
Thank you!!
