Now for a little something that falls outside of my radar. Love a shopkeeper that forces you out of your comfort zone!

75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. Love it when bottlers include such pertinent information on the labels. For the uninitiated, corn forms the backbone of any regular bourbon, bringing sweetness and body to the distillate; including viscosity. Rye contributes to notes of spice, dryness, and alcohol structure; or the "kick", if that works better for visual fellas. Finally, barley is mainly used to facilitate enzyme fermentation, rather than to act as a flavour profile. However, as whisky enthusiasts will attest, malt brings soul to the spirit. Biscuits, cereal, and nuttiness. With this information, we'd probably know what to expect for this one.

Popping open the crystal, you'll get a familiar whiff of that perfume-like aroma of honey, and apple-cinnamon jam on fragrant wood.

This one's not a heavyweight. But what it is a well mannered gentleman, one who you'd have the pleasure of meeting by chance. One who'd regale you in a husky voice; with tales of love and loss. There are strong leading notes of red fruits: redcurrants and cherries, trailed by wisps of Armagnac DNA. Spekkoek powder-like spice forms the beating heart of the dram, along with ripples of caramel, oak, and the sweet and sour tang of pickled corn.

Finish is long, with a reiteration of fragrant vanillic wood, and faint berry compote.

Lovely dram, would be keen to get a bottle when space is made available in the liquor trove.
