Why have all the men in my life so fucking terrible? Why is this so common?
Literally, none of the older male figures in my life are good people. None. I have male friends ofc, and my partner is male presenting, but why is it so common?
My dad has been abusive to my mom all my life. But he always hid it behind being calm. He was the definition of weaponized incompetence. When I got SA'd, he asked me, "Are you sure you didn't want it to happen?" When my little sister died from cancer, he was nowhere to be found the whole time. Never called her, never checked in. But the second she died, he plastered her face on his social media profile. As if he DID something. He never even saw her when she was sick. He had never seen her bald. He wasn't there in her last moments. She was 14. He was 35.
My cousin, who I grew up with, lied to me and violated me when I was 13, and they were 15. When I told everyone, his first reaction was to lie. Thank God my mom didn't believe him.
My uncles have only taken advantage of my mom's kindness. Whenever they're out, they always come to her first. Yet when my sister was sick, they never even tried to help. Never not once.
My half-sister's father, my mom's ex, is a washed-up loser. He started off so nice. They were friends when I was born. Now, 19 years later, I called my mom's body "disgusting" despite being bloated with alcohol.
My partner's father is also abusive. I saw how he treated them, but he pretended to be nice to me. Until, without any evidence, accused me of stealing from the house. I'm black. He's a white man. It's not hard to see why. I'm not going back over there, and neither is my partner. But he still insists he did nothing wrong.
My partner's high school old friend group, people whom I grew close with, turned out to be women violators who lied and hurt people. Apart from my partner and I, no one else in the friend group wanted to call them out. So we left. Now, those men are heading to college scot-free because the victims could've gotten harassed for speaking up. Why is this so common? What is going on???
