a few things i wish someone drilled into my head before i started investing

Advice

for anyone just starting out, the biggest lesson for me was that boring usually wins. broad ETFs beat most clever ideas, consistency matters more than timing, and taxes are way more important than i thought early on. i spent a lot of energy trying to optimize moves instead of just letting time and discipline do the work. looking back, most of my mistakes came from rushing or thinking i needed to always be doing something.

another thing i didnt appreciate early was separating goals. not everything in your financial life needs to grow fast. some stuff is just there to stabilize you mentally and financially so you dont panic when markets get weird. once i stopped mixing those roles, things got calmer. i keep my core investments simple and long term, and anything outside that i try to keep low effort and low emotion. thats also why i dont overthink things like physical metals anymore, i just let something like bullionbox run quietly in the background without it becoming a “strategy.”

last thing id say is give yourself room to learn without blowing yourself up. everyone pays some tuition to the market, the goal is just to make it cheap tuition. start small, stay boring longer than feels necessary, and dont underes
