I miss when you knew you were talking to real people online
This will sound foolish, but whatever.
It seems like half of what I read online these days isn't authored by a human. Everywhere, not just on Reddit. When you open a thread, you see these flawlessly formatted, extremely self-assured responses that, for some reason, say nothing. Then someone responds with yet another wall of text that says nothing at all. It sounds like bots conversing with bots.
I'm not against AI, I use it too. It's simply I miss locations where you could tell someone actually sat down and typed what they were posting.
I have been experimenting with a strange concept.
What if there was a small forum where posting genuinely "cost" something? It wouldn't be money; it would just be credits you earn for being present. If something was clearly AI, people with a good reputation could mark it as such. You lose credit if trusted users mark your post as AI. Otherwise, you're all right.
There is only one feed, a few niche communities with stringent guidelines, and no advertisements or growth hacks. Older forums are more like this than Reddit today.
I honestly can’t tell if this is:
something other people also want or just me being nostalgic and annoyed, Would you personally use a place like that, or is this solving a problem nobody actually cares about?
I’m not selling anything — just trying to figure out if I’m alone in feeling this way.
