Summer Internships

Does anyone else feel like these application rounds have been extremely competitive? I applied to around 15 internships and so far have received a PFO from all except 1 international firm. I have 2 strong legal work experiences under my belt to date, a 2:1 average to date (3rd year BCL) plus extracurriculars and part-time work outside of law. I'm genuinely not sure what these firms are looking for and it's really disheartening at this point because I spent so long on my applications. Working in law is all I really want to do and I'm really starting to wonder if it's a viable option anymore as I know from friends that it only gets harder to secure a TC once you're out of college. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated :)
