Bad news for future coming soon pages on Steam

Marketing

Friend Developers,

2 days ago, I set live my Steam coming soon page on Steam.
In the first 2 days, I got 1200 wishlists.
Sounds cool, right?

well its NOT!

The only reason I got these wishlists is because I redirected my player fan-base, had some help from content creators, and did some extra marketing because aparently steam cut the visibility for coming soon pages' debut almost entirely, actually, entireley, because the only reason why I have that little bit of spike from Steam is that I also enabled big update on some previously released game with funel on the new game including steam annoucement.

How do I know this to be true ?

I mostly release 1 game per year, and TBH up until now, I was releasing the coming soon pages without trailer and marketing, and still got 200-400 easy wishlists in the first day and the steam traffic was very high in comparison to now + many of my dev friends also confirm this.

Here is some more bad news:

My new game, Horizon 1990, has now "Profile features Limited" by default. In comparison with the "Steam is learning about this game" state in previous releases.
People who start coming soon pages now, I bet they will start with "profile features limited" .
I also have some friends who had game releases before this change, and they have "steam is learning about this game" even though they have fewer wishlists, hence they have the privileges of old algo.

What I suspect:
I think Steam was oversaturated with indie devs in the past years, but now with the rise of AI the market saturation has been amplified.
So, knowing Steam, they put customers first, and now I suspect they decided to stop exposing customers to low-quality/risky content so until the games don't get a certain quality threshold reflected by wishlists, they will stay invisible.
I don't know what the mark for that is , all I know I made 1200 WL in the first 2 days and I still have not reached the mark for Steam is learning about this game.

What does this mean?
Well, it means we are having a sort of invisible greenlight system.
We need to bring customers ourselves until we can get some visibility. This is fine, it was like this in the past as well but now it starts from begnin of the coming soon page and it stays close to 0 even if you bring customers up until the moment you reach the threshold, that is , if you reach the threshold.

So we are going to play Game Dev Life on the hardest mode, gentlemen.

Take this with a grain of salt, I'm also a professional troll during weekends.
