How were young, unmarried mothers viewed in Soviet era Ukraine?
Hi there. What was the view of teenage (school years) motherhood in Soviet Ukraine? Was it stigmatised? If a young girl became pregnant, would she be forced to quit school? If the father was a teenage boy, would she be forced to marry him? If she remained unmarried would she be forced to give the baby away?
Did it vary by economic status, region and year?
There doesn’t appear up be much information widely available outside of research papers laden with jargon, so I was hoping the good folk here could enlighten me?
