For those who haven't seen my previous posts, I am ganzheit, a solo developer working on a parkour 3D metroidvania. Before I dive into the details of the final stage, I want to briefly express my gratitude for the feedback I have received. Thanks to user feedback, I have made significant updates to the demo, particularly in improving the controls. I would especially like to thank Nikolai from the DTF community for his invaluable help.

I am nearly finished with the first of the three final sections in the threshold, a virtual world in my game. Working on these final stages has been incredibly challenging, and progress felt slow at times. Perhaps it is because there are no limits on skills or difficulty in these sections, which adds a lot of pressure. I also wonder if I chose a concept for the virtual world that is just too demanding to execute. While the reality stages focus on Brutalism and Mid-Century Modernism, the virtual world is inspired by 70s abstract art, art galleries, and installation art.

Despite the struggle, I feel a sense of joy and fulfillment. Occasionally, negative thoughts surface—wondering if people will even play this, or if they will even like it—but I push through those thoughts with the goal of leaving my mark on the world.

I have mostly finished this section now; I just need to set up a few story-related gimmicks like switches and a warp point. Knowing there are two more sections like this left feels a bit overwhelming, but I am keeping at it.

If you are interested, a demo is available at the link below. Feedback is always welcome, and I do my best to incorporate it into the game. Thanks for reading.
