Recovering high control group ex-missionary raising and socializing family

My wife really wants to go to church but doesn't like that my attitude will inevitably just be "meh". I have accepted that it's simply an extra thing to stress about arriving on time to with a minor bonus to giving our kids friends with a greater percent chance that their raised in mostly moral circumstances.

Anyone have luck finding community after deconstruction?
