HKU BA students – really need your advice 🙏
Hi, I’ve been admitted to HKU Bachelor of Arts and I have some questions. I would really appreciate insights from current BA students or anyone familiar with the system.
- Is it possible to take a second major or minor in another faculty outside Arts (Business, Economics, Finance)? How competitive is it?
- How competitive is it to transfer to Business / Econ / Finance? Is transferring possible from Year 2?
- What do Arts students typically study in Year 1?
- I was admitted to Bachelor of Arts, but what are these degrees below?
• Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws
• Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Digital Technologies
• Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Engineering in AI and Data Science
• Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Applied Artificial Intelligence
• Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Financial Technology
• Bachelor of Arts in Global Creative Industries
• Bachelor of Arts in Urban / Landscape / Architectural Studies
Are these programmes something I can enter later or switch into? Or do you have to be admitted directly into them from the start?
-
Where do BA graduates usually go? Finance sector and international corporations? UN? Is it common to go into law? If so, how does that pathway usually work?
-
How are internship opportunities for BA students compared to Business or finance students?
I’m personally a bit concerned about career prospects with an Arts degree. Any honest advice would mean a lot.
Thank you so much!
