Good mod list/where to download mods

I’m fairly new to stellaris(around 200 hours) and have been enjoying runs with all DLC. I plan on staying in 4.2 but have seen some modded images and heard stellaris has a good modding community, how do I get started here? Looking for lists, where to download, how to safely download, and any general info. Thanks!
