Yes, I'm anti-fascist, and yes, I still wear my swastika shirt. Let me explain.
Disclaimer for low-IQ readers: >!This is heavy-handed satire.!<
I grew up in a fascist family, in a fascist town, in a fascist country. It was totally normal for the vast majority of my life, but I always knew there was something not quite right about it. Over time, I slowly learned the truth and knew I had to make a change, so last week I finally decided to become anti-fascist.
Even though I'm good now, I've been getting a lot of shit from other anti-fascists. They say I'm not antifa because I still wear my favorite shirt from before I changed. I've had this shirt for years and love it so much, but yes, it just so happens to have a huge swastika on it.
I wanted to make this post to defend myself a bit and explain my reasons for continuing to wear my swastika shirt, so here they are in no particular order.
- Wearing it doesn't hurt anyone. The damage was already done when the shirt was purchased.
- If nobody wears it, that's disrespectful to the sweatshop workers who put their blood, sweat, and tears into making this shirt.
- Throwing it out or burning it would just be bad for the environment.
- Being able to change shirts is a privilege. There are people in this world who live in clothes deserts and can't choose what they wear.
- I'd have to buy a replacement shirt, but that would be pretty expensive and inconvenient. It's just not very possible or practicable for me.
- There's no ethical consumption under capitalism.
- Nothing I do really matters.
- It's a really comfortable shirt.
So, Reddit, what do you think? Aren't I right to keep wearing my shirt? Keep in mind, I might go back to being fascist unless enough people agree with me :/
