Does the megacringe dialogue ever go away?
I'm 5 and a half episodes in.
I love the worldbuilding in this show. The amount of detail in the exposition, the consistency. The overarching political plot is great. I like how dense in content each scene is (great for ADHD brain) and how you're constantly extracting valuable information each minute that you watch.
But the inter-character dialogue is absolutely dogshit and whoever wrote it needs to get shot in the head in the lore. Every interaction needs to end in a zinger. Every other conversation a character will deliver a philosophical monologue or an exposition on their ideology or worldview.
This show is the antithesis of "show, don't tell". Every shot is overly dramatic and characters feel massively shoehorned into their specific, monochromatic aesthetic.
To put it into as few words as possible: People don't talk like that. The dialogue is too unnatural and cringe.
It feels like a show made 35 years ago by boomers, (and I'm not even much younger than that). It's just too much cringe to endure for the political drama and hard sci-fi payoff.
And if the dialogue doesn't get better, how is it in the books? I don't care about spoilers.
