Emergency knives/cutters/scissors.

Do you guys carry cutting tools for emergency situations. Do you have recommendations. Did you ever have to use them for their intended purpose?

I was thinking about getting the knives from Edelrid but I was told the Golfer will open up and poke your ass if you carry it on a carabiner and the fixed blade comes out of the sheath on a regular base.
